2. Projects
2.6 A project's Git
What the “Git” section shows, where you commit and push, and why the kit reads the status without running Git.
In the app: «Projects»
In short
- The “Git” section shows the repository status: remote, branch, link to the remote, sync.
- It is read-only: commits, pushes and the list of changes are done in the editor, in a terminal or with an agent.
- Git uses the kit's GitHub account without asking for passwords.
What it shows
| Item | What it says |
|---|---|
| Remote | The address of the remote repository (origin), or “none”. |
| Branch | The current branch; “no branch” if you are on a specific commit. |
| Remote branch | The linked remote branch, or “branch not linked to a remote”. |
| In sync | “yes, at the same commit”, “no: there are commits to push or to pull”, or “unknown”. It refers to the last update from the remote (fetch). |
“Open on the web” opens the repository in the browser (for https addresses and for GitHub via ssh). If the folder is not a repository, the section says so.
Where you work with Git
- In the editor: the “Source Control” panel for commits, push, pull, branches and comparisons.
- In the project or editor terminal: the git and gh commands, already authenticated.
- With an agent: Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and Pi can commit, create branches and open pull requests.
Under the hood
Atollo reads the status directly from the files in the .git folder (HEAD, config, refs), without running Git in the project: that way it cannot start the repository's hooks or programs just because you opened the page.
