01

Five parts, one folder

1

Isolated editor and terminals

Built-in VSCodium with the Atollo dark and light themes, in a window measured on VSCodium 1.135's own workbench: the same sizes, colors and codicon icons. Terminals see only the kit's PATH and variables: programs on the host PC don't interfere, and the PC stays clean.

2

Languages and tools on demand

20+ languages and tools (Node.js, Python, uv, PHP, Rust, Go, Java, .NET, Dart, Julia, Ruby, C/C++, Bun, Deno, Typst, TinyTeX, R, Android SDK…), downloaded when needed and verified by SHA-256 checksum or signature. Side-by-side versions, one per project.

3

Local databases and web servers

MySQL with phpMyAdmin, MongoDB with mongo-express, and SQLite, started and stopped with one click, with a database, user and password for each project; several versions side by side, each keeping its own port. Caddy and Apache for sites at .localhost addresses, on every system, on their own or in a server shared by several projects. A port already in use is refused, naming whoever holds it. No system services.

4

Four AI agents, one configuration

Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and Pi: install, sign in and start. Write instructions, skills and MCP servers once in data/agents and atollo sync keeps all four aligned. Plan limits and usage for today and the last 7 days. Local models too, with no network and no account: GGUF models from Atollo's catalog or Hugging Face, resumable downloads checked by SHA-256, a llama.cpp server on 127.0.0.1 with a key that Pi uses out of the box.

6/6

One folder for six systems

The same folder, or the same external SSD, moves from Windows to macOS to Linux with projects, databases and agent settings intact: each machine runs the native programs of its system. “Remove drive” closes everything Atollo opened and lets you eject the disk.

03

How to use it

  1. Copy Atollo into an empty folder: a USB stick, an external drive or a folder in your profile.

  2. Start it: it creates projects/ and data/. On first start choose agents, languages and tools; Atollo downloads and verifies them.

  3. Create a project from one of 60+ bases (Laravel, Next.js, Django, WordPress, Astro, Tauri…), clone it from GitHub or start from an empty folder. The editor, terminal and agents always open in the project's folder.

04

How it works

Isolated, with native programs

No containers and no virtual machines: each system runs its own programs, directly. Atollo needs no administrator rights, installs no services and never touches the system registry or PATH, and it starts from a USB stick or an external SSD too.

Everything from one window

Projects, AI (agents and local models), databases, web servers, terminals, tools and settings each have their own page. The Projects quick panel shows what is running, your favourites and what needs fixing, and Ctrl+P opens a project by name; the Activity panel gathers in one place the output and errors of whatever is running or installing, from project actions to every database version and web server pool, and “Stop all” stops it all after a confirmation. For scripts there is the command line: atollo check, atollo prepare, atollo sync.

The folder travels with you

When the drive letter, the folder or the system changes, Atollo realigns the paths and on each system uses that system's programs. Projects, databases, sign-ins and agent settings stay as they were.

Every component verified

Every download is checked against its SHA-256 checksum or signature before it is used. A language's versions sit side by side, one per project, and the relations matrix warns when two components don't get along.

05

Tools by system

Every component in Atollo's catalog, by kind, on each of the six systems. Only the ones you choose are downloaded, or when a project needs them. The table is generated from the app's catalog every time the site is published.

Systems

Windows 10 and 11 (Windows 11 on ARM64), macOS 12 or later, Linux with glibc 2.35 or later (Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12 and newer).

Each file has its .sha256. On macOS the app only has an ad hoc signature: after unzipping, remove the quarantine with xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine Atollo.app and open it from the kit folder. The macOS and Linux releases are tested in CI, not yet on clean machines. Code signing policy · Privacy policy

07

Still to do

Atollo is in alpha. Windows x64 is the most tested system, real installs in CI included; macOS, Linux and Windows ARM64 are built and tested in CI only. Here is what is still missing, plainly.

The alpha, to be tried

The 0.6.0 alpha is on GitHub for Windows, macOS and Linux, each on x64 and ARM64. The published files are built and tested in CI: now they need downloading and starting on clean machines.

Alpha testing

We need people using Atollo on real projects and different PCs, and reporting what goes wrong: component installs, projects, databases, agents.

macOS on real Macs

Apple Silicon and Intel are built and started in CI, never on a clean Mac: the zip downloaded with a browser, quarantine and Gatekeeper, App Translocation, a kit on an exFAT stick, the agents' sign-in carried from one Mac to another.

Linux on real machines

x64 and ARM64 on Ubuntu 24.04, Fedora 42 and Debian 13: AppImage with and without FUSE, the tar.gz with WebKitGTK 4.1, exFAT sticks or sticks mounted noexec, sign-in with GNOME, KeePassXC or KWallet.

Updates and the kit's builds outside Windows

Updating the app from one version to the next on macOS and Linux is not tried yet. The kit's Apache (2.4.69) is in the catalog but tried only in CI; so is the kit's PHP with pdo_sqlite (8.4.26 and 8.5.11), which the app uses from 0.3.0 on.

Code signing

On macOS only an ad hoc signature, without Apple notarization: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine is needed. On Windows 0.6.0 ships unsigned: the SignPath signature is still to be activated, and until then SmartScreen may warn on first launch.

Take your atoll with you.

One file, one empty folder. The rest arrives when needed.

No telemetry. Atollo collects no data and contacts no server run by its author. It only connects to GitHub to look for its own updates, to the official sources of the components you choose, to Open VSX for the editor's extensions and, if you use them, to the GitHub and agent APIs.
